Eric Ollerenshaw, MP for Lancaster & Fleetwood
In the spring of 2007, Eric was selected by the constituents of Lancaster and Fleetwood by means of an open primary as the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency.
At the General Election in 2010, Eric was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Parliamentary Constituency of Lancaster & Fleetwood.
Eric was born and bred in Lancashire and now lives in Lancaster. A grammar school educated, former history teacher, he taught in several Comprehensive schools and strongly believes that education is the best way to get the most out of young people.
An experienced and tough campaigner, he was a board member of Great Ormond Street Hospital, a successful local councillor and a member of the London Assembly. He now heads the Cities and Diversity section of the Conservative Party.
He takes a simple message to those who feel let down by the Brown Labour Government: "The new Labour dream has turned to dust and in its place stands a monument to waste, spin and broken promises. Working people have been promised the earth and constantly let down, it's time for real change.
"It is a great privilege to be chosen as the Conservative candidate for the new seat of Lancaster and Fleetwood and I am keen to know your views. Let me know what you think about the issues affecting you and your family."

New Boundaries
After a review of Parliamentary representation in Lancashire, the Boundary Commission created the new Parliamentary Constituency of Wyre and Preston North, which was contested by Ben Wallace at the 2010 General Election. This split the current link between Lancaster and Wyre. As a result, Lancaster and the coastal town of Fleetwood have been attached for future Parliamentary purposes, to create the vast and diverse constituency of Lancaster and Fleetwood. This Constituency was contested by Eric Ollerenshaw in 2010, and statistical analysis indicates this was a Conservative gain from Labour.
